Questions - Answers

Below you will find some frequently asked questions, those that I am asked most frequently. If you have any questions that have not been answered here, I will be happy to answer them, by email or telephone.
Can funeral homes refuse an urn that has not been purchased trom them?

No, because a federal law protects a consumer’s choice. Talk to the person in charge, explain that you want to support an artist in funerary art who creates unique pieces. If you place the urn in a burial niche, make sure you know the exact size required. Some columbaria may refuse wooden urns..

My creations meet the industry’s volume requirements, which is 3.3 liters (200 cubic inches).

NB. It is against the law to charge additional fees for the urn’s handling.

Can i go and see the urns in vour workshop and meet you in person?

Yes, with great pleasure. However, make sure to contact me in advance for an appointment.

(see the Shipping section

).

How long does It take to make a customized urn! and now much does it cost!

Between two days and two months. I adapt to your situation. Together, we will find technical solutions to meet your demands. The base price is $500 + time allocated to the sculpture: an estimate will be submitted. See the section entitled Customized Urns for more details.

Can i keep the urn at home?

Yes. In the province of Quebec, there is no law indicating how to dispose of somebody’s ashes. Since the ashes do not yet have the status of human remains, almost everything is possible. All the ashes, or only a portion of them, can be kept or dispersed, according to the wishes of the deceased or the family.

Does it upset you to see your creations being buried in the ground?

No, not at all. I draw my motivation from the families’ satisfaction and from the pleasure of woodworking. In the great civilizations, it was common to bury the deceased with their most precious possessions. I remain sensitive about the emptiness experienced by people following the burial of a loved one. For some custom orders, it is possible for me to build a display piece allowing the family to keep the sculptured section of the urn.
